Shake Shack opens restaurant next to Trader Joe's in Winter Park

WINTER PARK, Fla. — An already busy part of Winter Park is even busier now that a Shake Shack restaurant opened up its first central Florida location Wednesday near Orlando Avenue.

The popular burger joint has more than 50 locations around the world, and now it's in the same plaza as Trader Joe's.

The employees of Shake Shack had an excited welcome for their first customers as they opened the doors to a large crowd.

Fans of the restaurant in other cities, such as Miami and New York were on hand to be some of the first in line. They said they like the burgers and the fact that the restaurant uses locally produced beef for them.

The CEO said the company is happy with the city of Winter Park and how they’ve made it easy to set up shop in a brand new plaza.

The parking lot outside the restaurant filled up quickly for the grand opening--it also happens to be the site of another big grand opening recently, Trader Joe's grocery store.

"We'll have some traffic challenged, there's not question about it. But we're all going to work together to make it as good an experience as possible for our guests," said Shake Shack CEO Chris Martin.

The city expects traffic to sunside after the customer crunch of the grand opening subsides.
