Sheriff's office to open facility in memory of slain Brevard deputy

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Brevard County Sheriff's Office will open a new facility on Thursday in rememberance of Deputy Barbara Pill, who was killed in the line of duty in 2012.

The Sheriff's Office will hold a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony for the Barbara A. Pill Law Enforcement Facility at 11:15 a.m. Thursday.

"As we open this new facility for service to our agency and community, we will reflect on Barbara’s loss, but most importantly, we will celebrate the memories and values she left for us to share," Sheriff Wayne Ivey said.

Pill was fatally shot exactly two years ago Thursday. The trial for the alleged shooter, Brandon Bradley, is currently in the jury selection phase. Bradley's accomplice, Andria Kerchner, pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact to first-degree murder in January. She was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The Barbara A. Pill Law Enforcement Facility will now serve as the agency's north precinct.
