St. Cloud cop car in hit-and-run; 79-year-old charged

ST. CLOUD, Fla. — A St. Cloud police officer was the victim of a hit-and-run driver Friday, according to police.

Police said that the officer was responding to an emergency call at about 2:30 p.m. when a car struck the officer's patrol vehicle. Police said the driver fled the scene.

The incident happened near the intersection of Fifth Street and Old Canoe Creek Road.

According to police, the driver, Dallas Kelsey, 79, was later found at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School at Brown Chapel Road in St. Cloud.

Police said Kelsey was arrested and charged with fleeing the scene of a traffic crash.

There were no injuries in the accident, police said.

Police closed several intersections in the area while they investigated the incident.
