St. Cloud man accused of kidnapping, sexually assaulting Daytona teen

ST. CLOUD, Fla. — A 42-year-old St. Cloud man was arrested Tuesday on charges he kidnapped a 16-year-old Daytona girl, drove her to his home and sexually assaulted her, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said.

James Hill was arrested after the girl was able to escape when he fell asleep, deputies said.

The girl told investigators that she was staying with a family friend in Daytona while her father was in the hospital.

Hill, the family friend’s boyfriend, asked the victim if she wanted to go to the store with him, but instead of shopping, he took the teen to his apartment in a rural area of St. Cloud, officials said.

He is accused of holding the girl captive for a day before she was able to escape.

“She played some music to distract the noise in the house of her leaving and was able to leave,” Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jacob Ruiz said.

The teen ran across the street to a neighbor, who called 911, investigators said.

Hill was being held without bond at the Osceola County Jail on five counts of sexual battery of a person younger than 18 and one count of battery.
