Still no leads 1 year after Sanford convenience store owner gunned down

SANFORD, Fla. — Friday will mark one year since Joshua Hur was gunned down outside his convenience store on Poplar Street, and Sanford police have not solved the case.

On Dec. 23, 2015, Sanford police converged on Kim's Food Mart in the Goldsboro section of Sanford near West 4th Street after a report of a shooting. The scene was surrounded by yellow crime-scene tape.

Hur, 63, ran the store for 13 years. He had been shot multiple times in the parking lot.

"From the corner, I could see the yellow tape across my driveway," said witness Regan Mitchell.

A year later, Sanford police are asking the public to help solve the case as the trail has started to get cold.

“I went in there enough to where he recognized my face. So I would get a couple free pieces of candy every now and then. So he was a pretty decent guy," said Mitchell.

Last January, investigators released photos of three individuals; the photos were taken inside the store moments before the shooting, but police will not say if those people were ever located.

Mitchell hopes the case will eventually be solved.

"It would be nice. It would probably bring a lot of ease to the community, so I would think so, if they found somebody. I think a lot of people would be happy," Mitchell said.

Hur's son, Caleb said he believes police are doing everything they can to find his father's killer.
