SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. - Firefighters were called to investigate an alarm that was sounded at Lake Brantley High School just before classes were set to start Thursday morning.
Seminole County firefighters responded to the alarm at the school around 7:30 a.m.
Around 8 a.m. they reported that a suspicious item had been discovered in the school.
The school was evacuated while firefighters investigated.
A number of students and staff members were waiting in the football stadium.
The item turned out to be batteries taped together as part of a student science project.
Around 8:30 a.m. students and staff returned to the building.
