Trump rips into former Gov. Jeb Bush at Tampa campaign rally

TAMPA — Donald Trump brought his tough talk to Tampa, looking to expand his lead over two other Floridians in the race for president, Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio.

Trump talked mostly about policies, not his challengers, likely since he's leading most Republican polls in Florida by double digits.

“We're angry because we're run incompetently by incompetent people. We're run incompetent,” Trump said in front of thousands of people in an arena.

Trump spoke for about an hour at the Sun Dome on the University of Southern Florida campus Friday evening. He riffed on everything from China to his golf course near Miami to his plans to build a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Trump delivered a prior promise that he wouldn't use foul language after challengers attacked him for his sharp tongue. And with the crowd in Tampa, he didn't need it.

Trump is fresh off his win in the New Hampshire primary.

He spent most of the night talking issues, though he didn't hold back when it came to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

“Jeb puts you to sleep. He's asleep at the wheel folks. No, seriously, can you imagine Jeb negotiating with China?” Trump said.

He also denounced rival Ted Cruz for running an ad in South Carolina that criticized Trump's use of eminent domain in past business deals

Trump took jabs at Common Core testing for students, calling it a “disgrace.”

Not everyone agreed with the message.

About 50 protesters gathered outside, calling on voters to "Dump Trump."

Inside, supporters said Trump's tough talk is why they like him.

“He didn't use any bad language and he appeared very presidential to me,” said supporter Matt Varble.

The next big Republican primary is next week in South Carolina.
