Surveillance captures gunman holding up clerk at Orlando Roadway Inn

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies said the surveillance video will help them find a gunman who held up a motel and got away with cash.

Investigators said the masked robber went into the Roadway Inn on Orange Blossom Trail at about 9 p.m. Monday, threatened an employee with the handgun and forced her to open the register.

Deputies said the robbery left the clerk upset, but not physically hurt.

"Anytime someone comes in and points a gun at you, you are going to be traumatized over it.  But, she did what the robber demanded and she is a woman walking away from here, not injured tonight," said Lt. Paul Hopkins of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies used K-9 units to track the robber, without any luck.

Detectives said they do not think the robbery is connected to a string of recent robberies at central Florida motels.
