Suspects arrested in Winter Garden homicide

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — Winter Garden police said a man and a woman, who allegedly planned to rob another man before fatally shooting him, were arrested and booked into jail Friday night.

Jadarion Jackson, 20, and Latara Conyers, 33, are accused of shooting and killing the victim in a robbery during the early morning hours of May 9.

The victim, 35-year-old Sylvester Wright, was found dead in his home by his young daughter the next day, according to police.

The mother of Wright's daughter, Elisha Gilbert, told Eyewitness News his death has been hard for the family.

"My daughter still can't sleep at night, she still talks about her dad," Gilbert said.

Investigators said Conyers was friends with the victim and helped set up the robbery. She is accused of text messaging Jackson to let him know they were home.

According to police, valuable items were taken from the home and they are still working to recover stolen evidence.

Wright posted several pictures of himself holding cash on his Facebook page, according to investigators. Officials said it helped detectives understand how the victim's friends knew he carried cash around.

Officials said the homicide remains under investigation and more arrests could come. Both Jackson and Conyers are being held at the Orange County jail on first degree murder charges.

"I'm so glad were coming to closure about this," Gilbert said.
