Teacher accused of sexually charged discussion with class about ex-female student

MAITLAND, Fla. — Maitland Middle School teacher Scott Ginchereau was suspended without pay just days ago after district officials said he had a sexually charged conversation with his students about a former female student.

Officials said he talked about the underage student while showing her Facebook page and inappropriate pictures on a classroom projector.

The school district said the teacher had online conversations with the student, talked about her in a wet T-shirt and even invited her to the school.

Ginchereau said the district has it all wrong. He said what he did might not have been a good idea, but he doesn't believe he should be fired.

"With 14 years of clean records, I really didn't feel like it was worthy that level of a punishment," said Ginchereau.

Ginchereau said he was using the student's Facebook page, with her permission, as an example of what not to put on it.

"I asked them to imagine they were a college recruiter Googling the name of an applicant," said Ginchereau.

Sixth-grader Diamond Martin told WFTV she heard the story from her friends.

“They were like, 'Well he was on Facebook, and she was underage and in a bikini,’ and stuff like that,” said Martin.

Ginchereau told Craig he is working to get his job back.

Ginchereau said he has a lawyer and plans to take his side of the story before a judge.
