Suspicious device forces evacuations in downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — Part of downtown Orlando was evacuated Thursday night because of a suspicious device.

Police shut down Pine Street between Garland and Orange avenues, after they said a firefighter found a suspicious looking 2-liter bottle outside Fire Station No. 1.

According to investigators, the firefighter told them the bottle looked like it had been deliberately placed there.

Investigators said the bottle had nails taped to the outside and was filled with an unknown liquid.

Orlando police and the bomb squad were called in to investigate.

Pine Street was reopened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Investigators are still trying to figure out who left the bottle behind.
