OCALA, Fla. - An Ocala teenager who fatally shot a 40-year-old man has turned himself in on lesser charges after authorities decided not to prosecute him under the "stand your ground" law.
Police say the teenager shot Julius Jones in the head on July 5 after he had a verbal confrontation with the teen and two friends as they walked along a road. They say he stopped his car and approached the teenagers with a big stick. That's when he shot Jones.
The State Attorney's Office ruled the teenager's actions falls under the "stand your ground" law.
