Teens arrested for breaking into FHP's vehicle, investigators say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Two teens were arrested after being caught shooting into a Florida Highway Patrol’s vehicle and stealing gear inside, investigators said.

The cruiser was parked in the driveway of the trooper’s home off Hiawassee Road early Saturday morning.

Neighbors told Channel 9's Shannon Butler they heard a loud pop and thought it was a gunshot.

The driver’s side and passenger side windows of the FHP vehicle were shot out.

“I know I saw them take articles out of the car and put them on the floor and go through them,” a neighbor told Eyewitness News.

The teens took the trooper’s baton, his flashlight and tint meter, the FHP said. His uniform shirt and jacket were found outside the car. The trooper’s gun was not in his vehicle, investigators said.
