Mother, boyfriend questioned after toddler found unresponsive at Orange County inn dies

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Few details have been released since the death of a 2-year-old child who was found unresponsive at an Orange County motel on Monday.

Medics were called to the Countryside Inn on Lee Road after Justin Polk was found unresponsive.

A witness told Channel 9 he tried to perform CPR on the boy while another man frantically talked with 911 dispatchers.

"He was lifeless, unresponsive, wasn't breathing, didn't have a pulse," the man said.

The witness said the boy was bleeding from his mouth and nose and may have had other injuries.

"He had bruises on his ribcage, either that or it could have been smudges from something but I don't think that was the case," the man said.

The man said his attempts to revive Justin were unsuccessful and that emergency crews took over minutes later and rushed the child to Florida Hospital, where he later died.

Justin's mother and her boyfriend, Jonathan Charapata, have been questioned multiple times since the boy's death.

The boy's mother also has a 3-year-old girl and 1-year-old boy.  The Department of Children and Families said both children are being evaluated and will be in protective custody.

Investigators haven't released any other details in the case.
