Tourist finds owl stuck in SUV after crash in Osceola

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — An owl spent 24 hours inside the grill of an SUV when it was caught in a crash on the Turnpike in Osceola County.

The sight brought the South Florida driver of the SUV to tears when she found the owl.

Sonji Coney Williams said she thought she had killed the owl when it collided with her car on the Turnpike near Yeehaw Junction.

Williams said she was shocked to find him peering out of the SUV the next day.

"I’ve never experienced anything like this before in my life," Williams said.

Williams said she called Florida Fish and Wildlife, which was able to safely remove the male owl from her SUV.

Officials said other than being a long way from home, the owl was healthy.
