VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Two accidents closed Interstate 4 briefly Wednesday afternoon, and caused traffic woes during rush hour at the St. Johns River Bridge.
A single-vehicle rollover crash, and a separate two-vehicle accident forced troopers to shut down the interstate while a hospital helicopter landed to carry away one injured driver.
Despite the interstate being open, at 5:30 p.m. there was a six-and-a-half-mile backup on the eastbound side of the interstate, starting north of the bridge.
By Wednesday night traffic flow had returned to normal.
