Trial continues for man accused in death of 3 rival Warlock gang members

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Trial continued Thursday for the man accused of shooting and killing three rival motorcycle club members at a charity event at the Winter Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars in 2012.

When David Maloney,a member of the Philadelphia Warlocks MC, took the stand, he said he shot back in self-defense.

Jurors also heard testimony from Brad Dyess, a former member of the Warlocks motorcycle gang.

He said he shot at rival member Maloney and other members of the Philadelphia Warlocks MC, but only after he was shot at first.

Jurors were shown pictures that displayed bullet holes in a truck, feet away from a body that was lying between two bikes.

“That is the S-10 truck that you identified Mr. Maloney, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Ekard at, is that correct?,” the defense asked Dyess.

Dyess replied yes, and when the defense asked him if the bullet holes were from his gun, he also said yes.

The defense tried to build a case around the idea that the Warlocks were targeting Maloney, after starting a separate Warlock gang, and he was only protecting himself.

"There were two subjects crouched behind that truck," Sgt. Bradley Dual with the Winter Springs Police Department said,

After calling Dula to the stand, the prosecution argued that Maloney may not have been acting in self-defense because he arrived to charity event wearing a bullet-proof vest.

The vest was identified by an undercover officer and was also shown to jurors.

“You could see through the shirt that he had on that he has a bullet-proof vest on,” the undercover officer said.

Maloney is charged with three count of second degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree premeditated murder.
