Troopers: Motorcyclist killed in Apopka crash

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Troopers are investigating after a 52-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash in the Apopka area Friday night.

The crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. at the intersection of S. Orange Blossom Trail and Overland Road, FHP said.

According to troopers, a Nissan Sentra was traveling northbound when the driver attempted to turn left onto Overland Road from S. Orange Blossom Trail. The Sentra turned directly into the path of an oncoming Yamaha motorcycle, driven by 52-year-old Wesley Harley, officials said.

Harley died at the scene of the crash. Troopers said he was not wearing a helmet.

The occupants of the Nissan Sentra, 51-year-old Beatriz Naranjo and 24-year-old Gysselle Naranjo, have given conflicting statements to troopers about who was driving at the time of the crash, according to officials.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
