DELAND, Fla. — State troopers have released the dash cam video from a chase, where a driver fleeing from a DeLand police officer crashed and died.
Officer Mathew McCormick chased Trevon Lacy along South Adelle Avenue last year.
McCormick backed off, after Lacy blew a stop sign, and when the officer caught back up with him, he'd crashed his SUV into the back of a parked semi.
A Florida Highway Patrol investigation found Lacy was going about 75 miles an hour through the residential area.
McCormick was not cited by FHP, but did receive a 40-hour unpaid suspension from the department, because chasing a fleeing driver is against department policy.
