VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - Two people were arrested Tuesday night, accused of a violent attack on an elderly couple outside a Volusia County Walmart.

Deputies said the pair ambushed the victims as they left the store on Howland Boulevard in Deltona, but the 69-year-old victim didn't give up without a fight.

Deputies said Patricia Sikes was loading groceries into her car with her purse over her shoulder when the woman tried to snatch it, but Patricia held on until her husband Larry tackled the suspect to the ground.

The crime attracted a crowd of people, but no one helped.

"If I would have known the situation, I would have been there, more than just a phone call to the police," said an unidentified witness.

She said everyone thought Larry was the attacker because he was on top of the woman and had a gun in his jacket.

Before deputies arrived, witnesses said the suspect's boyfriend beat Larry until the purse snatcher could get away.

Investigators said the suspects, Tabitha McNair and Steven Gilb, took off in a gold Nissan sedan.

Deputies said they caught them a couple hours later at a Seminole County motel.
