Suspicious car leads to evacuation of parking garage at Universal Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — A parking garage at Universal Orlando has reopened after a suspicious vehicle and driver prompted an evacuation Saturday evening, authorities said.

Orlando police and firefighters evacuated the parking garage at Universal around 7 p.m. Saturday. Officials said Universal security personnel spotted what they believed to be a suspicious car and driver on the fourth floor of the garage.

Several Universal guests told WFTV they were kept away from the area for more than four hours.

"They are definitely not taking any questions and they are not answering anything about how long it is going to be," witness Joe Fox said.

Guests were not allowed to return to their vehicles while authorities investigated. The theme park offered many guests free taxi rides because of the inconvenience.

"There's managers and Universal security standing at every escalator and entrance to go upstairs," Fox said.

Police said they determined the driver and vehicle were not a threat. The incident ended with no arrests and no injuries and authorities reopened the garage shortly before 1 a.m.
