The Coast Guard offloaded roughly $2 million worth of seized marijuana at Port Canaveral Sunday morning.

Officials said Coast Guard Cutters Confidence and Dauntless intercepted a vessel suspected of smuggling drugs south of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba on August 17. According to officials, the suspects on the vessel tossed bales of marijuana into the water as they were fleeing.

Four alleged drug smugglers aboard the boat were taken into custody. Officials said 55 bales of marijuana were recovered from the water and more were located on the suspects' boat. The total amount of seized marijuana is about 2,245 pounds, the Coast Guard said.

The marijuana, which was offloaded at Port Canaveral around 8:00 a.m. Sunday, is valued at roughly $2 million.
