Video shows driver kicking special needs child from bus

TAMPA, Fla. — Prosecutors released a school bus camera video that shows a driver using her foot to push an 8-year-old special needs student off the vehicle.

The video was released Wednesday as part of the discovery process in an aggravated child abuse case.

Investigators said 41-year-old Stephanie Wilkerson was driving the bus to Tampa Bay Elementary School on Sept. 28 when the girl tried to get off the bus.

Officials said Wilkerson told the girl to wait her turn, and that's when the child slapped and pushed the driver.

Authorities said while the child was standing on the bus steps, Wilkerson placed her foot on the girl's back and pushed her from the vehicle. The child broke a bone in her ankle.

Wilkerson, a driver since August 2008, was fired in January.
