Volusia Co. schools out of compliance with class sizes

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — WFTV found out Volusia County school officials expect to pay a hefty fine to the state for violating the class size law.

Schools across Florida had until Friday to count students and turn those numbers in to the state. Based on those figures, Volusia County said it has more students per teacher than it should.

Now officials are looking at how to balance that out, because the district doesn't have any money to hire more teachers.
