The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said Madison was staying with family near Ormond-by-the-Sea after she left Indiana to distance herself from her estranged husband, Jarvis Madison, 58.

A report from the sheriff's office said that Rachael Madison fled Indiana to stay with her aunt “to avoid further violence.”

Authorities believe Rachael Madison could be in the company of Jarvis Madison.

Investigators are working to determine whether she left with him willingly or if she is endangered or missing under other circumstances.

A Volusia County Sheriff's Office report said that Jarvis Madison is wanted by warrant in the state of Indiana on a charge of criminal confinement, which carries a bail amount of $15,000 with full extradition.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office report also said "Jarvis Madison is believed to be armed with a 45-caliber handgun. He is a transient who has been known to frequent 24-hour Walmarts, gas stations and state or local parks."

Deputies said Rachael Madison was last seen wearing a pair of men’s navy blue basketball shorts, a light-colored jacket and blue-black slip-on Skechers shoes.

Rachael Madison did not have any money and was not carrying a cellphone when she left, deputies said.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office report said that according to Indiana law enforcement, Jarvis Madison fired a gun toward the victim in Indiana before she fled the state. Jarvis Madison knew her location in Florida, investigators said. %
