Man fatally shot while playing cards in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Daytona Beach police investigated a deadly shooting Wednesday afternoon.

Police said Warrick Williams, 43, died in a shooting at a business on Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard near Garden Street.

Investigators said the suspect, Jermaine Antone Jackson, 36, kicked down a door and opened fire at people who were playing a card game.

Police said Jackson shot Williams multiple times before running away.

Wednesday’s shooting was the eighth shooting in Daytona Beach since Saturday. In total, three people have died in the shootings.

The shootings do not appear to be related.

“I know we’re going to track these guys down,” said Daytona Beach police Chief Jakari Young. “No issues whatsoever. We just got to figure out how we’re going to prevent it, and we need the community’s help to do that.”
