Volusia Sheriff to hold drug take-back day Saturday


VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - The Volusia County Sheriff's office will have five drop-off points for residents to dispose of unused and expired prescription drugs on Saturday.

The program is part of national Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration established the day to allow people a method of properly disposing of the unused drugs.

According to the Sheriff's office, more than 550,000 pounds  of medications were turned in during the last national take-back event in the spring.

The event is free and anonymous.

The following locations, in Volusia County, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29.
