COCOA, Fla. —

Deputies arrested a wanted Brevard County man after he holed up in a home with a woman and young child inside.

Steven Aikens Jr. was taken into custody at a home on Woods Circle in Cocoa.

Private investigator Matthew Todd was working for a bail bondsman and searching for Aikens, who had two warrants for drug charges. Todd said that when he spotted him, Aikens drove off and went into the Woods Circle home.

A SWAT team surrounded the home, which they said belonged to Aikens' girlfriend. Shortly after, a woman and a little girl left the home.

Authorities said Aikens spoke to police by phone and surrendered a short time later. Police said he was not armed at the time, but they weren't taking any chances with a man who has eluded them for such a long time.

WFTV was at the scene when Aikens put his hands up, and then his pants fell down.

Authorities said it was the third time in recent months that Aikens tried to run from authorities.

Aikens is being held in the Brevard County Jail.

A woman who was in the car with Aikens told Channel 9 she doesn't know him.

"I just got a ride from somebody and got in a high-speed chase," she said.
