Watch: Otters rehabilitated at Florida Wildlife Hospital

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Two otters have been rescued and are recovering at the Florida Wildlife Hospital in Melbourne.

One of the otters was injured in Christmas, Florida, and the other was rescued from Gainesville after she was found stuck in a roll of wire mesh, said an official with Florida Wildlife Hospital.

Both are said to be doing well and are learning how to catch live food, officials said.

Officials said they hope to release the otters back into the wild by late August, depending on their growth and development.

Learning to Fish

Even though school is out, our otters are still learning a thing or two this summer! Here they are working on their fishing skills. Before these guys are released into the wild, it is crucial they are able to hunt and fend for themselves.
