Woman accused of fatally shooting stepfather, daughter, 7, in South Florida

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A 28-year-old woman was arrested Monday morning on suspicion that she fatally shot her stepfather and her 7-year-old daughter at an apartment complex, the Port St. Lucie Police Department said.

Investigators said they were called at about 12:30 a.m. to the Waterleaf Townhomes and Apartments after the two bodies were discovered.

Police said the suspect, Alyssa Marie Torres, drove away from the shooting scene in an SUV.

Torres' mother was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Police said Torres' stepfather was in his early 50s. The identities of the victims were not publicly disclosed.

Investigators said Torres was arrested at about 10:30 a.m. A motive has not been determined.

The shooting remains under investigation.
