ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando police said a homeless man is in jail, accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a downtown parking garage.

Officers arrested Tobias Franklin Wednesday night after reports of an attack inside the garage on Jefferson Street shortly after 6 p.m.

Authorities said a guard stopped the attack, which happened on the sixth floor of the garage.

"We have a guard or a bunch of guards walk around regularly," said resident Roger Vanetten.

The guard said he noticed two people near the stairwell and heard the woman screaming for help. He got out of the car, and as he approached the pair, the man ran down the stairs.

Those who work in the area told Channel 9 they take precautions walking to their cars, including staying on the phone with family members.

Police arrested Franklin a short time later after someone said they saw him running from the scene.
