DELAND, Fla. — Authorities in Volusia County told Channel 9 a woman was critically injured in a skydiving accident in DeLand Friday morning.
The skydiving accident happened around 10:00 a.m. at the DeLand airport.
Officials said the skydiver experienced issues with her parachute and made a cut away near several trees, causing her to fall 30 to 40 feet to the ground.
According to fire rescue, the victim suffered a head injury and was taken to Halifax Hospital in critical condition. She has been identified as Aline Leao of Brazil, who officials said has 14 previous skydive jumps.
