Woman dies in I-4 crash near ChampionsGate

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A woman died Saturday afternoon in a crash on Interstate 4 near ChampionsGate, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.

The three-vehicle crash happened at about 4 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-4 between U.S. 27 and Osceola Polk Line Road, said Scott Wilder, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

A Nissan car rammed into a Honda SUV, which ran into a Chrysler van, Wilder said.

A woman riding in the car was killed, and a man driving the car and two children riding in it were hospitalized.

Two adults and two children riding in the SUV were brought to local hospitals.

No other injuries were considered life threatening, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Eastbound lanes of I-4 were closed for four hours after the crash.

Traffic congestion was a factor in the crash, Wilder said.

None of the people involved were publicly identified.

No other information was released.
