• Composite sketch of suspect in Valencia College area rape released

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Late Monday afternoon investigators released a composite sketch of a man they said dragged a woman into bushes near Valencia College Lane and raped her late Sunday night.

Detectives told Channel 9 that the victim was walking to pick up her child when she was attacked about 10 p.m.

Investigators described the assailant as a light skinned Hispanic male, approximately 24 to 30 years old, approximately 5’7 to 5’9 and weighing 170 pounds.

"She was walking down the sidewalk when a Hispanic male dragged her into the bushes and committed a sexual battery," said Lt. Paul Hopkins of the Orange County Sheriff's Office. "Once we get detailed information, we'll try to get that out to the public so they can help catch this guy."

Investigators said the woman saw her attacker come from the direction of an apartment complex near State Road 417, and after the attack he fled back toward the apartments.

On Monday, investigators were back at the scene with a bloodhound, hoping to find evidence that will lead them to the rapist.

WFTV learned authorities did get a lead off of security video from a nearby apartment complex, but no other details have been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Office or CrimeLine at 800-423-TIPS.
