Woman finishes testimony in her husband's attempted murder trial

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The wife of a Palm Bay man accused of trying to kill her outside a Brevard County hospital finished her testimony Thursday.

Sherry Chung described her husband, Gavin Chung, as her best friend--even though investigators said he shot at her as she sat in her car outside Holmes Regional Medical Center.

Gavin Chung did not testify in his own defense.

The State Attorney’s Office said she avoided prosecutors when she was subpoenaed. Prosecutors said her recollection of what had happened had changed when she took the stand for the defense. %

As part of her testimony, Chung said she did not see a gun. She said she saw her husband running and he stumbled a little, so she put her head down and drove.

The jury will hear closing arguments Friday morning, but won’t begin deliberations until Tuesday because a juror is unavailable.
