Woman found dead in car near DeLand

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A woman's body was found inside her car near DeLand Tuesday morning, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators identified the woman as Bonnie Sue Burns, 42, of DeLand.

A friend who had been expecting Burns went out looking for her and discovered Burns' 2001 Ford Escort with the Burns inside.

Sheriff's officials said they are treating the death as suspicious. The county medical examiner will conduct an autopsy on Wednesday to determine the cause of death.
