PINE HILLS, Fla. - Deputies are searching for a suspect after a mother was found stabbed to death in an Orlando home.
Police were called to the woman’s home near Mercy and West Colonial drives after neighbors heard yelling and arguing Friday afternoon.
Neighbors said the woman had two children, and they had just seen her taking the kids to school Friday morning.
The Department of Children and Families said it’s too early to say whether the children will be in their custody or a family member’s.
Hours after the mother was found stabbed to death, police were still checking IDs and not allowing anyone into the Parkview community unless they lived there.
Police said they are keeping people out of the area to check for any clues on the ground left by whoever killed the woman, who they have not yet identified.
They also got a search warrant to enter the home to search for clues.
“It’s just a tragedy. It’s just sad because she just came from New York not too long ago,” said neighbor Yvonne Miller.
Miller said when she spoke to the victim Friday morning, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
“It’s uncomfortable because it’s right across the street from where I live. It’s scary,” Miller said.
Police did not say if they know who the victim was arguing with.
“There is no one else in the home. No one else on scene at the time,” said Lt. Jim Young with the Orlando Police Department.
Miller said the victim has confided in her about her troubles relationship with her on-and-off-again boyfriend.
“She said he was possessive and she was afraid of him. She was just too scared to call the police,” Miller said.
Neighbors said the woman has two other sons in New York who were planning to move down in the coming months.
