Troopers ID woman killed after crashing into big-rig on I-4

DELAND, Fla. — Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a deadly crash that shut down traffic on Interstate 4 in DeLand for hours on Tuesday.

Troopers said Mary Bullington, 61, of Southport, N.C., was driving erratically along I-4 in DeLand when she ran off the road and slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the shoulder.

FHP said the Bullington died at the scene.

Two dogs were also in the car. One was injured and the other is OK.

Traffic was tied up for about four hours and backed up for miles.

Troopers said no one should've been stopped where the semi driver was and they'll be investigating.

The crash happened in a stretch of I-4 that is undergoing construction. Several crashes have happened in the area, but state troopers said it doesn't appear the construction played a part in any of them.
