Woman killed in Orange County hit-and-run while crossing road after car broke down, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash Friday night as she crossed the street after her vehicle broke down on Lake Underhill Road near Dean Road, officials said.

The woman, Bobby Rainey, 67, was trying to walk from her disabled vehicle to a gas station when she was hit at about 7:15 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the woman, later identified as Selgio Alvarado, 25, fled the scene.

His family brought him back about 30 minutes later, officials said.

They did not return in the same vehicle that had been involved in the crash, investigators said.

Alvarado did not have a driver's license at the time of the crash and even though he returned to the scene, he will still face a charge of leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily harm or death, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
