Woman killed in rear-end crash in Ocala

OCALA, Fla. — A 61-year-old woman is dead and two others are in the hospital after a crash Saturday afternoon in Ocala, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A 2007 GMC Yukon rear-ended a 2001 Mitsubishi on U.S. 441 near the intersection of NW 56th Street around 1:30 p.m. while the Mitsubishi was slowing down to pull into a private driveway, troopers said.

An independent witness told troopers that after being hit, the Mitsubishi rolled over at least once.

Daniel Kissner, the 36-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi, and his passenger, Dorothy Choate, were taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center. Choate succumbed to her injuries.

Kissner is in serious condition. Lequanda Lamar-Poole, the driver of the Yukon, was also taken to ORMC with minor injuries, troopers said.

Troopers said charges are pending.
