Women arrested after Apopka man, 74, beaten with cutting board

APOPKA, Fla. — A 74-year-old Apopka man was severely beaten by a woman during a robbery, Orange County deputies said.

Deputies said Ronald Hollingsworth invited a woman, who was a friend of his, into his home on the 3000 block of Clarcona Road Tuesday night.

Deputies said she was inside the home for about 10 minutes when she walked outside and left the door slightly open.

Hollingsworth told deputies the woman’s girlfriend walked into the trailer uninvited and started hitting him on the head with a cutting board.

“They were gouging his eyes out. They had their fingers in the eye sockets, ripped his ear almost half off,” said the victim’s son, Ed Hollingsworth. “I mean, these people went in to hurt him or kill him.”

The victim fell to the ground, and the woman went through his pockets to steal a bottle of Dilaudid pills, deputies said.

Ronald Hollingsworth told deputies the women knew he recently had his prescription filled.

He sustained heavy bruising on the face, but his injuries were considered non-life threatening.

Ed Hollingsworth and his brother posted a picture on Facebook, showing the two women their dad identified.

“He’s elderly. He’s in fourth-stage kidney disease, and he’s fixing to go on dialysis. I mean, he needs his medication, and for someone to do that because they need a drug fix is ridiculous,” said Ed Hollingsworth.

The women, later identified as Tosha Mullins, 29, and Britney Telegdy, 26, were taken in for questioning and will be booked into the Orange County Jail, deputies said.

Deputies said the pair was in the middle of a drug deal when they were busted and the pills were found in their car.
