More child porn charges filed against church youth group volunteer

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — On Monday, computer crimes detectives filed 28 additional counts of possession of child pornography against Jay Bloodworth , who is currently incarcerated at the Polk County Jail on two original child pornography charges.

The Lakeland youth group volunteer was arrested on Aug. 20 after deputies said they found child pornography on a shared church computer.

Bloodworth, 28, admitted to looking at child porn for the last year and a half, said authorities.

Members from Plant City's Church on the Rock found the pictures in Bloodworth's folder on the computer, investigators said.

"This is another example of the importance of reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement.  Images found on a shared church computer led to this investigation and ultimately, Bloodworth's arrest," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

During a forensic examination of Bloodworth's computer after it was seized from his home during the Aug. 20 arrest, detectives said they found 28 additional images depicting the sexual performance of a child under the age of 10 years old, with four of those images depicting the sexual battery of a child under the age of 5 years old.
