SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — George Zimmerman's closest friend appeared on the "Doctor Phil Show" to defend what people call the most hated man in America on Tuesday.
Zimmerman is accused of shooting unarmed teenager 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in a Sanford neighborhood last February.
"George has never been in a fist fight. He's worked in an office environment all his adult life and George was not a muscle-bound kind of man," said Mark Osterman.
Mark and Sondra Osterman kept Zimmerman hidden in their home for more than a month after Zimmerman was charged with second-degree murder.
Zimmerman claims he shot Martin in self-defense.
The couple also tried setting the record straight about the Zimmerman case in their book "Defending Our Friend, The Most Hated Man in America."
