Man arrested, accused of exposing self to kids at Wal-Mart

TITUSVILLE, Fla.,None — The convicted sex offender accused of exposing himself to children in a Brevard Co. Walmart made his first appearance before a judge Tuesday afternoon.

Orange County deputies arrested 28-year-old Robert Walyus at his home just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police said he's the man in surveillance pictures who flashed two children in the toy aisle of a Walmart on Saturday, and asked if he could touch one of them.

For fours years, Michelle Kinney has lived across the street from Walyus in a quiet east Orange County neighborhood.

She said families on the street feel like prisoners in their own homes because of him.

“We're very, very tight here with the kids. They don't come out on the street like they used to and ride their bikes like they used to. Its very monitored,” Kinney said.

Neigbors said Walyus lives with his parents, but no one came to the door when WFTV stopped by.

Walyus's record dates back to 2001, and it shows several for exposing himself to children.

Surveillance video of Walyus at a Publix in Titusville in October shows him walking by a Cub Scout and other children as he went into the store, where detecives said he also exposed himself.

But it took the image from Walmart for someone to call in the tip that led to his arrest.

Neighbors said they hope this time he'll be gone for good.

“He's going to escalate, and at what point does it have to be somebody who is in power, who's child is affected so we can live in peace in this neighborhood?” Kinney said.

If anyone has additional information, they are urged to call the Titusville Police Department at 321-264-7801.
