Bank Embezzlement Linked To Death Row Inmate

CLERMONT, Fla. —

A woman accused of embezzling money from a Lake County bank has now been connected to a similar crime.

Nazreen Mohammed is already accused of stealing hundreds from a dead woman’s bank account at an RBC Bank in Clermont. Mohammed worked at the bank at the time. She has since been fired.

Now, Mohammed is accused of stealing $80,000 from an area Fairwinds Credit Union. According to law enforcement sources, Mohammed funneled the money to her son, who’s on death row.

Dane Abdool was 21 years old when a jury convicted him in 2008 for burning his girlfriend to death in Winter Garden. Investigators believe she was trying to pay for her son to appeal his case to the State Supreme Court.

Now, his mother could be headed to prison if she’s found guilty.
