New York —
Oprah Winfrey viewers know Dr. Mehmet Oz well. On her show, Dr. Oz taught us how to get healthier and live longer and made medical jargon easy to understand. Now his inspiring show is airing on WFTV Channel 9 and Central Florida's TV27.
INTERVIEW: Vanessa Echols Talks With Dr. Oz
Since his first Oprah show in 2004 Oz has been a teacher and healer for millions of viewers. We paid him a visit to find out what we can expect from his show.
"I am going to tackle weight loss in a way that you have never seen before. We are going to have women proudly displaying their bellies as they get rid of weight they don't want to carry," said Dr. Oz.
Thanks to his diet and fitness tips, overweight men and women have transformed their bodies over the years.
This season he plans to motivate people to get healthy by giving away $1million through a health and wellness competition.
"Do you know what the loser gets? Millions of them? They will be healthier," said Dr. Oz.
The week of Sept. 19 he'll kick off the season with a revelation.
"We are going to be talking about something that is in your apple juice that shocked me, that will change your perspective. It got me and the audience up in arms. I am going to be talking about that the first week," said Dr. Oz.
At times the show feels very spontaneous. But every aspect of the show is carefully planned, from medical breakthroughs to new treatments. Dr. Oz's advice hasn't just saved lives it has also changed many viewers' quality of life.
"Without a doubt the number one thing to stay healthy is to build a little bit of body strength. It doesn't sound like a lot but if you look at people around the world who live a long time that is what they all share; they are not frail," said Dr. Oz.
In addition to hosting his show, Dr. Oz still performs heart surgeries in New York every week.
You can get more of his lifesaving advice and medical breakthroughs, right on WFTV Chanel 9 at 4 p.m. If you miss the afternoon show, it airs again on Central Florida's TV27 at 9 p.m., right before Eyewitness News at Ten.
