SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. —
On Saturday, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a Lake Panasoffkee residence regarding allegations of child neglect.
When they arrived, 32-year-old Alta B. Risen showed signs indicative of being under the influence of a narcotic and determined the residence was unfit for occupancy. Deputies said they found dirty clothes piled around the house, roach and ant infestation, canine feces and urine stains on the floor as well as smoking paraphernalia lying within the child’s reach.
Risen was taken to the Sumter County Detention Center and is being held on $5,500 bond. The child found in the home was turned over to a family member.
