Deputies: Father To Blame For 12 Fractures In Infant's Body

The infant is at Arnold Palmer Memorial Hospital in serious condition and his father is behind bars after an ongoing investigation into a disturbing case of child abuse.

Nathaniel Bozarth didn't say anything to reporters. He just looked down and away as he was lead out of the Orange County Sheriff's Office. The 24-year-old is charged with aggravated child abuse. Deputies said an investigation discovered Bozarth was responsible for more than 12 bone fractures in his son's body that included injuries to his head, legs and arms.

"At different times, he would shake or push the child down. At different times, he's pushed the child down and squeezed the child," said Sgt. John Allen of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Bozarth's girlfriend, the child's mother, said he's only been alone with her son twice. Both times, according to an arrest affidavit, she noticed injuries to the boy's head. Recently, the boy had a thumb print on his right temple.

In his arrest affidavit, Bozarth admitted he'd put his thumb under the boy's chin to prevent him from crying.

"He acknowledged that he caused the fracture and the doctors are saying it was non-accidental trauma," Allen stated.

Investigators began looking into the injuries earlier this week. They think they may have happened on October 13.
