Deputies arrested an Orange County man after detectives say he set off his own burglary alarm.

Investigators first went to Jahzeel Ramos' home on Woodruff Drive to check out an alarm call.

Deputies said they were called by a home security company reporting an alarm at the home.

Apparently, Ramos gave the wrong security code.

Deputies said he seemed nervous, then relaxed when he learned they were only there about the alarm.

They said Ramos smelled like raw marijuana, and they got a search warrant.

Court documents show investigators found 8 pounds of pot, 78 grams of cocaine, 108 hydrocodone pills, more than 300 Xanax bars and more than $10,000 in cash inside the home.

Ramos initially agreed to do a jail interview with WFTV, but when a news crew showed up, he called his attorney and backed out.

"I just want to call. I don't want to mess up my case," Ramos said.

Neighbors said they were surprised a man suspected of holding all those drugs would make the mistake that sent deputies to his own home.

"Kind of funny, but the situation … not too funny," said neighbor Fran Fox.

Ramos is a convicted felon. He was found guilty of fleeing while attempting to elude Hillsborough County deputies in 2008.

He was being held in the Orange County jail Monday on a half-million-dollar bond.
