Deputies Warn Of Osceola County "Puppy Patrol" Phone Scammers

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. —

Crooks are using police dogs in a phone scam to rip off unsuspecting people in Osceola County.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said someone is calling residents asking for donations for a fake organization called "Puppy Patrol". The callers say the money goes to the sheriff's K-9 program.

Ron Pezzinka says the scammers called his house last week and tried to get at least $100 from his wife.

"Yeah, they were really pushing the issue. They said they were going to mail us a donation envelope," said Pezzinka.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says it never solicits donations by phone. Deputies say if you have any information about the phone scam, give them a call.
